Core Fundamentals of Construction Course

Core Fundamentals of Construction Course

A 90 hour course for entry level students to learn and touch on a variety of Construction Careers and learn basic construction knowledge and skills including: Construction Safety, Construction math, Introduction to Construction Hand and Power and their Tools use, Materials Handling, Introduction to Construction Drawings and Employability Skills such as critical thinking skills, problem solving and effective self-presentation. Students successfully completing the course will receive an OSHA 10 hour for Construction Card, NCCER certificate, HBI Certificate, Build Smart Institute™ Competency Badges and a First aid and CPR card
Residential Carpentry Apprentice Course

Residential Carpentry Apprentice Course

A two Year 381 Hour Program; First Year is 175 hours; Second Year is 206 Hours. Includes Basic Safety, Intro to Construction Math, Introduction to Hand Tools, Introduction to Power Tools, Introduction to Construction Drawings, Basic Communication Skills, Basic Employability Skills, Introduction to Materials Handling, Housekeeping and debris removal (Safety), Orientation to the Trade, Building Materials / Fasteners, Sealing the Building Envelope, basic surface preparation, Site Preparation, handling and placing concrete, foundations & slab on grade, reinforcing Concrete, Decks / Porches / Sunrooms, Thermal / Moisture Protection, Wall / Floor / Roof Systems. Students successfully completing the Couse will have met the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry Related Technical Instruction for Residential Carpentry Laborer Apprentice Registered Apprenticeship Program.
Commercial Carpentry Mechanic Apprentice Course

Commercial Carpentry Mechanic Apprentice Course

A two Year 385 Hour Program; First Year is 192.5 hours; Second Year is 192.5 Hours. Includes Basic Safety, Intro to Construction Math, Introduction to Hand Tools, Introduction to Power Tools, Introduction to Construction Drawings, Basic Communication Skills, Basic Employability Skills, Introduction to Materials Handling, Housekeeping and debris removal (Safety), Orientation to the Trade, Building Materials / Fasteners, Introduction to drawing specifications, Sealants and repairs / fillers, Brushing / Rolling Paints and Coatings and basic surface preparation, Site Preparation, handling and placing concrete, foundations & slab on grade, reinforcing Concrete, Vertical Forms, Cold- Formed Steel Framing, Drywall Installation, Drywall Finishing, Suspended Ceiling, Doors and Door Hardware, Window/ Door / Ceiling Trim.

Students successfully completing the Couse will have met the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry Related Technical Instruction for the Commercial Carpentry Laborer Apprentice Registered Apprenticeship Program.
